Specifically though doing this like installing Minecraft mods and running a Minecraft server on your Mac will require Java which is the main reason we are doing this tutorial. How To Download & Install Java on Mac

Step 1) Download Java for macOS

First things first, we need to download Java for macOS. You can get to the Java download page by clicking the Download Java button above. You can also click this link to get to the Java download page. Once you are there, click on ‘macOS'. Then, you will need to select the DMG Installer for either ARM or x64. If you are on an M1 Mac, you will use ARM. If you are on an Intel Mac, you will use x64. After deciding on which version of Java for Mac you need, click the link next to it to start the download. You may need to allow or keep the file depending on your browser.

Step 2) Install Java for macOS

Once you have Java downloaded, we can move on to installing Java for macOS. You can find the file you downloaded into your download folder. Open that, and click the JDK file you have in it. That will then open the installer for Java. Double click on the JDK listed in the window that opens. The installer will open where you can click ‘continue', and then ‘Install'.

You may then need to confirm you want to install Java by entering your macOS password. Finally, click ‘Install', and Java will then install. Once you are finished, you can close the installer and move it to the trash.

Step 3) Make Sure Java for macOS is Working

At this point, you can now use Java on your Mac. From installing Minecraft mods, to running a Minecraft server to using Java programs, you can now use Java for anything that you want on macOS.
